Transforming Team Culture in Big Pharma
On the brink of collapse due to a lack of clarity and loss of trust, a top leadership team at one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies used an EQ intervention to transform team dynamics and fuel unprecedented growth and performance.
Overview
Situation: At one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, a Key Accounts Team was on the verge of collapse due to a lack of clarity about its mission, loss of trust and low morale.
Solution: In collaboration with Dynamic Learning, a Six Seconds preferred Partner, the team implemented a six-month learning and coaching intervention.
Results: Following the intervention, team emotional intelligence scores increase by 8.9% and simultaneously experienced double-digit financial growth, high performance evaluations and multiple promotions.
“In this case, it was crystal clear this team needed EQ as a key part of the transformation we wanted to create. They all had the IQ it takes to perform and deliver results, but they needed the force behind that – investment in the human element.”
– Dr Ernest Makram, Team Leader
Situation
At one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, a Key Accounts Team had been established to act as a central point of contact for key internal and external decision makers. However, a lack of clarity on the team’s purpose and direction led to an unfavourable perception of the KAT throughout the company. Consequently, the lack of acknowledgement and recognition from the rest of the company impacted the team’s quality of work and led to a loss of trust, confidence and morale. The team’s new leader, Dr. Ernest Makram, knew that in order to transform the team’s performance and productivity, he had to address key underlying elements – the human elements – that drive performance and productivity.
Solution
To support this team to increase performance, the company contracted Dynamic Learning, a specialized emotional intelligence consultancy and Six Seconds Preferred Partner based in Dubai. Together they customized a 6-month learning project combining assessments, group workshops and 1-on-1 coaching. The first phase consisted of team members completing the SEI, the world’s leading emotional intelligence assessment. The second phase consisted of a one-to-one debrief of the participant’s SEI profile as a framework for goal setting, and a 2-day group workshop on emotional intelligence. The final phase consisted of ongoing EQ coaching and a post-assessment to analyze growth.
