Utilizing Brain Talents to Improve Company Culture at Leading IT Company

Faced with low morale and consistently high turnover, this IT company improved feedback conversations and overall company climate with the Brain Talents assessment and 1-to-1 coaching.

Overview

Situation: A lack of people-focused processes and social emotional skills led to disengaged and disconnected employees, and consistently high turnover rate at this IT company.

Solution: Certified EQ Facilitator Madalina Manolache developed a custom program to test the effect of combining the Brain Profiles assessment with coaching to improve performance assessment processes, especially the design of feedback conversations.

Results: The Brain Talent Profile assessment had a measurable impact on the effectiveness of feedback seeking strategies, as well as on self-regulation routines and goal setting.

“Enabled me to increase self-awareness on my behavioural patterns and my cognitive processing, especially in relation to feedback…. I understood how I listened, or not, how I acted during the decision-making process, and even how I paid attention during feedback conversations and team meetings.”

– Valentin Mazareanu, PhD, Data Security Officer

Situation

At a leading IT company in Romania, a lack of sustainable human capital investment lead to low morale and fluctuating turnover among employees. In 2019, for example, only 20% of managers reported implementing practices for onboarding new hires or helping develop current employees – contributing to aannual turnover rate of  35%. The company recognized the need for more investment in the people-side of performance, and decided to participate in this study on using emotional intelligence tools to increase performance feedback processes.

Solution

Having an EQ certification in applying the Brain Talents Assessment, the researcher customized an 18-month research study combining the use of Six Seconds’ Brain Talents Assessment, a custom questionnaire on feedback calibration assets, interviews with managers and 1-to-1 debrief sessions. The researcher sought to identify potential uses of the Brain Talents on feedback conversations, goal setting, and more – in order to improve the overall social emotional climate and, ultimately, reduce staff turnover.

Data analysis found that the Brain Talent Profile assessment – combined with coaching – had a measurable impact on Feedback Seeking Behavior, Feedback Orientation, and Learning Goal Orientation.
