Situation
Shell is a global group of energy and petrochemical companies with over 92,000 employees, headquartered in the Hague, Netherlands. The leadership team at Shell Brunei identified collaboration as a strategic asset for the company, and decided to customize a blended emotional intelligence program to leverage its leaders’ potential for working with and through people.
Solution
Shell Brunei and Six Seconds customized a program, EQ for Effective Relationships and Teamwork, that combined assessments, training and emotional intelligence coaching. The first phase consisted of individuals taking the SEI, the world’s leading emotional intelligence assessment, and receiving a personalized Leadership Development Report. The second phase consisted of small group training, which focused on practical tools and techniques to build effective relationships and strong teams. Finally, the final phase focused on implementation, with leaders receiving one-on-one emotional intelligence coaching to assist with efficacy.
Results
The project was highly successful. Senior leaders in the original pilot extended the program throughout the region.
